Types of Membership:
Individual/Family Membership-
All individuals and Family Members who live in the same residence qualify for an Individual/Family Membership and are entitled to the full benefits and privileges of the Membership. This may include all adult individuals and children living in a household as of January 1 of the membership year. An individual not yet 18 years old as of January 1 of the membership year may not vote, hold office or be a committee chairperson of ADA.
Youth Membership-
An individual not yet 18 years old as of January 1 of the membership year may apply for a Youth Membership separate from a Family Membership. No Youth Member may hold office or be a committee chairperson of ADA, except with respect to a Youth Committee, should one be established and be operationally active.
Affiliate Membership-
Equine related and other businesses/vendors/individuals who would like to support the Club.
Privileges of Membership-
A. Voting
All matters which call for the vote of each Member shall be decided by the
majority vote, in person, email ballot, digital voting or other method approved by the Board of Directors. All ballots will be distributed
at least 30 days prior to the election. An Individual/Family Member is entitled to only one vote. Youth members and Affiliate Members do not have voting rights.
B. Leadership
Officers and those who serve on the ADA Board of Directors must be members.
C. Points and Awards
Members may participate in the ADA points and awards programs of recognition for both donkeys and their handlers.
D. ADA Breeders' Listing
Individual/Family members is good standing and approved by the ADA may list their farms on the ADA Breeders' Listing for an additional annual fee. Please see the Breeders' Listing Application for details and fees (currently $20/year). This listing has been carefully curated to provide both new and established donkey enthusiasts with a resource for reputable breeders.
Termination of Membership
Termination of Membership may be rendered for the following reasons: Delinquent dues; Deliberate violation of club rules or disregard for subject By-Laws; Inappropriate behavior contrary to the club’s Purpose as determined by the Board of Directors; Termination of membership requires a 2/3 vote by the Board of Directors.
Dues and Billing
Annual dues will be billed electronically on or about January 1st for the current year. If dues are not paid by 2/28 of the current year, the dues will be rendered late and membership will no longer be valid. If dues are received after 2/28, the membership will be considered for reinstatement. Dues will not be prorated. If dues are received any time in the year they will be covering membership for that year and the member will be billed again in January of the following year for the next membership year. Membership fees may change from year to year at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
